Curriculum Vitae Why study with me?

Why is it worth playing chess?

“Teach your children how to play chess and worry about their future no more” is a well-known statement in the chess world which was reportedly made in the nineteenth century by Paul Murphy, an unofficial World Chess Champion. Those words have never been more up to date as the game of chess is becoming more and more popular globally. Current research indicates that chess fosters the development of meta-cognitive ability1, visual memory2, leadership skills3 as well as mathematics performance of both healthy children4 and those with learning disabilities5. In addition, studying chess boosts one’s concentration6, improves academic results and facilitates logical thinking skills7. Moreover, chess teaches how to cope with stress, what the purpose of fair play is and how to experience failure in a way that stimulates growth.

I will be happy to work with all chess enthusiasts – beginner and intermediate players, children and adults, those who wish to compete in tournaments as well as those who want to study chess for the sheer fun of doing it.
